Notes about Augustinus "August" van Os

In 1893 werd August uitgeloot voor de Nationale Militie.
Na het huwelijk woonden ze in Erica. In 1904 verhuisden ze naar Schöningsdorf in Duitsland. Bij het zgn Annaveen werkten circa 300 werklieden, doorgaans uit Zwartemeer-Klazieaveen en was August veenbaas. Na terugkomst in Nederland woonden ze nog enige tijd in Erica en verhuisden in 1914 naar Zwartemeer.
In Zwartemeer was hij fabrieksbaas, opzichter, landbouwer en later tuinder. Hij was vanaf de oprichting van de RK Parochie H.Antonius van Padua kerkmeester en kreeg daarvoor in 1956 de pauselijk onderscheiding "Pro Ecclaesia et Pontifice". Hij was tevens jarenlang bestuurslid van het Wit Gele Kruis, voorzitter van het Groene Kruis, bestuurslid van het Burgerlijk Armenbestuur, bestuurslid van bond ABTB Drenthe en voorzitter van de Veilingvereniging Spes Nostra. In 1919 was hij kandidaat voor de Provinciale Staten voor de RKSP.
