Toorn, J. van der Was de zoon van Pieter van der Toorn en Adriana van der Toorn-van der Hak en woonde aan de Van der Gaagstraat 23 te Loosduinen. Overleed op 8 februari 1945 in zijn woning aan de gevolgen van een schedelbasisfractuur en een shock door het bombardement. Zijn stoffelijk overschot werd naar het Kinderziekenhuis aan de Haagweg in Loosduinen overgebracht. Jacobus van der Toorn werd op 27 februari 1945 op de Algemene Begraafplaats aan de Kerkhoflaan begraven
