    Volgens de catalogus: Haags goud en zilver, Edelsmeedkunst uit de Hofstad, auteur: Jet Pijzel-Dorissen. Catalogus van het zilver en goud van het Haags Gemeente museum, is Gregorius van der Toorn niet in 1768 overleden maar volgens nieuw biografisch onderzoek in 1771. Er is een prachtige zilveren waterketel op komfoor die Gregorius in 1769 heeft gemaakt en is gedateerd.
    De familie Van der Toorn heeft vele generaties zilversmeden voortgebracht in Den Haag in de achttiende en negentiende eeuw.
