GM fabriek 2 werd bovenop de landbouwgronden van de Oorders Berghoeve gebouwd. De laatste bewoner/boer, Jef Van Alsenoy vertelde: Mijn vader zaliger had me er vroeger op gewezen dat, toen ze rond 1924 de gasleiding naar de Berghoeve kwamen leggen, de afstand vanaf de bocht in de zandweg tot percies voor de deur van de boerderij 186 meter bedroeg. Toen aannemer Blaton, percies 45 jaar later, de opgespoten grond ging egaliseren waar de hoeve had gestaan, nam ik 186 grote passen en nog 2 erbij voor de juiste lengte. Daarna nam ik nog 3 stappen naar rechts. Toen wist ik het, hier op deze plek ben ik geboren, hier sond mijn wieg.Hier had ik een kruis op de opgespoten grond getrokken. Enkele dagen later kwamen de mannen van Pieux-Franki de plaatsen bepalen voor de teslagen palen van de nieuwe fabriek. Het bleek dat er een paal zou geslagen worden pal op het door mij aangebrachte kruis. Ik vroeg één van de mannen welk nummer de paal zou krijgen. F24 was het antwoord.
Jef die later aan de slag ging als toezichter (watchman), vertelde ook dat wanneer hij soms door de fabriek liep en voorbij de bewuste paal liep, hij het gevoel kreeg of hij weer thuis kwam. Op de paal werd een gedenkplaat aangebracht.
