Op 28 januarie 1745 werd voor Cornelis de Bruijne en Maria Servaas door notaris Dirk van Bronkhorst notaris "over Vlaanderen Haar Hoog Mog Heeren Staten Generaal" een testament opgemaakt Cornelis lag toen "ziek te bedde". In het testament werd het volgende bepaald : bij overlijden van een der ouders krijgen de kinderen als ze volwassen zijn elk F 300,= uitgekeerd. Johannes(jan) mag vooruit 25 ponden ontvangen omdat is "bezet met de steen" De kinderen moeten een"goede konst of handwerk" leren en mogen niet naar de weeskamer. De diaconie Armen kreeg een legaat van vijf schellingen.

Na het overlijden van Cornelis werd Pieter Romeyn uit Coeschorre (ws de stiefvader van maria Servaas) op 9 augustus 1745 als voogd over de kinderen aangesteld.
