Pakhuismeester van de Thee te Rotterdam.
In verband met zijn ziekte (TBC) verhuisde het gezin in 1854 naar Pau in Zuid-Frankrijk.
Het echtpaar speelde een belangrijke rol binnen de internationale kring van volgelingen van ds. Darby, de huidige Vergadering der Gelovigen. Hun huis in Pau functioneerde als een ontmoetingscentrum. (Zie hiervoor: Dr. W.J. Ouweneel, 'Een is uw Meester'.; Hoofdstukken uit de geschiedenis van de 'Broeders'. (Vaassen, 1985; familiearchief inv.nr. 2647).
In de 'Gedenkboekjes' heeft hun achterkleinzoon Cornelis Hermanus Voorhoeve diverse artikelen over hen geschreven.
