Hij verbleef van 1888-1892 in Potchefstroom (Zuid-Afrika). Directeur van de N.V. Petroleum-Persgasfabriek te Voorburg. Bestuurslid van de Vereeniging van de Ambachtsschoolen te 's Gravenhage. Voorzitter (tot 1943) van de Raad van Arbeid te 's Gravenhage. Officier in de Orde van Oranje Nassau (1947) voor zijn activiteiten voor de gemeente Voorburg. Voorzitter (1927-1938) en erevoorziter (1938-1962) van de Vereeniging der Familie van Oordt. Administrateur van de Stichting De Groene Balsem van van Oordt (1922-1962). Het huis 'Middendorp" aan de Vliet te Voorburg is door zijn toedoen een tweede familie-huis geworden, mede door de volle toewijding van zijn echtgenote voor de Familie en haar Vereeniging. Over hem en het huis 'Middendorp' is in verschillende 'Gedenkboekjes' gescheven. (Zie gedenkboekje 1938 (blz. 24), gedenkboekje 1940-1945 (blz. 32, oorlogsdagen) en gedenkboekje 1946-1947 (blz. 64,met een gedicht van Hendrik Marie Bleuland van Oordt (C3 Xb) over de oude agave in de tuin van 'Middendorp' te Voorburg), verder gedenkboekje 1951 (blz.63 en gedenkboekje 1957 (blz. 47, met artikel ter gelegenheid van de 90e verjaardag van Jan Bleuland van Oordt).
