Jacob Hogebrug werd geboren op 17 januari 1838 in Putten (Gld). Hij is aanvankelijk tuinman en koetsier bij Baron Van Goltstein op kasteel Oldenaller in Putten. Later wordt hij koetsier bij baronesse Schimmelpenninck van der Oye op Huize Hoevelaken. Hier ontmoet hij Elizabeth Jurdens (geb.Wageningen 22 april 1835) die op Huize Hoevelaken dienstbode is. Zij verhuizen op 7 februari1872 met baronesse Schimmelpeninck naar de Nieuwe Uitleg 28 in Den Haag. Jacob en Elizabeth trouwen op 12 april 1871 in Den Haag. Op 16 juni 1871 verhuizen ze naar de Breedeweg in de Zuidplaspolder (gem. Waddinxveen)
Jacob overlijdt op 5 augustus 1918 en Elizabeth op 7 februari, beiden in Waddinxveen.
