    Joost Pot. Hij kreeg van Joost Pot omstreeks 1868 opdracht om met zijn gezin, vrouw en 5 kinderen,
    naar Vlaardingen te verhuizen. Hij moest in Vlaardingen de kunst gaan afkijken van het reilen en zeilen
    van het visserijbedrijf en zijn baas daar regelmatig verslag over uitbrengen. Zijn jongste zoon, Aart
    Ligthart toen 12 jaar oud, moest in opdracht van Joost Pot, enige jaren naar zee om te leren hoe de
    haring gevangen wordt. Mede dankzij de gunstige verslagen van vader en zoon Ligthart vestigt Joost Pot
    zich in september 1872 in Vlaardingen. Een halfjaar daarvoor is de Nieuwe Waterweg geopend. Binnen
    een aantal jaren heeft Joost Pot een florerend bedrijf op poten gezet dat qua omvang en omzet alle
    Vlaardingse bedrijven de baas is.
