    vroeger thuis vaak als mijn Vader het vertelde of als de ooms erover begonnen.

    Zo vertelde hij mijn grootvader Roelof Bosman was al vrachtrijder,

    Hij had daarvoor al vijf paarden in gebruik, die elk een route liepen.

    Hij had een vaste vrachtdienst naar Harderwijk, Kampen, Zwolle, Epe en Meppel.

    Zijn zoons reden dan naar: Oom Barend reed naar Kampen, Oom Gerrit Jan reed

    naar Harderwijk, en ik kan mijn nog herinneren dat Hendrik Jan Voerman knecht

    bij hen was voor een rijksdaalder per week.

    Vishandel

    Zo vertelde mijn Vader Gerrit Jan Bosman. Mijn Vader dat was Aart Bosman en

    met Oom Johannes vervoerden zij ook vis. In het voorjaar natuurlijk Haring,

    daar kwam de bot. De kooplui in die tijd vaste routes naar Deventer, Doesburg,

    Zutphen en Arnhem. Samen met andere Elburger vishandelaren trokken ze er met

    paard en wagen op uit.

    's Avonds tegen negen uur vertrokken ze in de richting van de plaats van

    bestemming. Zo had mijn Vader de gewoonte altijd naast het paard en de wagen

    te lopen. Hij ging niet op de bok zitten om dat anders het paard te vlug moe werd..

    Men had dan vlak voor Epe de eerste stop, de paarden kregen dan haksel haver en

    water. De voerlui aten wat brood met een kop koffie of een borreltje. Daarna

    werd de reis voortgezet naar Oene daar stopte men bij de Rietstulp daar is nu

    nog steeds een eethuisje, ook daar kregen de paarden weer wat te eten en te

    drinken en de voerlui konden daar weer wat eten en drinken.

    (Daar bij die Rietstulp kwam ik later zelf ook te werken en ik, ik ben de kleinzoon

    van Aart Bosman ook Aart)

    De laatste stopplaats was vlak voor Deventer, in de buurt van Twello aan de

    IJsseldijk. Om de volgorde aan de visafslag te bepalen, moest er gedobbeld worden

    Het was vaak voordelig om als eerste te mogen lossen, omdat na een groot aanbod

    de prijs naar beneden ging. Bij de afslag kwamen dan de dienstbodes van de rijkere

    mensen een portie bot kopen.

    De haring werd in de verschilende wijken uitgevent. In het Café op de dijk werd

    een verdeling gemaakt. Mijn Vader heeft van alles vervoerd. Ik weet nog dat hij een

    paar keer een vracht met bokkingen naar Nijmegen heeft gebracht. Van daar werd

    deze lading naar Duitsland getransporteerd, Soms moesten ze door rijden tot in

    Gennep om hun vracht kwijt te geraken. Maar hij vervoerde ook meubelen,

    kool en uien. Als het maar geld opleverde, dan vervoerde hij het wel.
