    Susan Jo Dunkin werd geboren op 1 juni 1957 in Des Moines tot Orville en Edwarda (Eddie) Dunkin. Susan groeide op in Iowa en woonde en ging naar school in Prairie City, Knoxville, Dallas Center - Grimes en studeerde in Pella af in de middelbare school in 1975.

    Susan studeerde twee jaar aan het Central College in Pella en studeerde later af aan de Universiteit van Iowa. Susan werkte acht jaar in Iowa voordat ze in 1987 verhuisde naar New York City. Susan trouwde in 1988 met John Lesica. Ze verhuisden in 1990 naar Freeport op Long Island, NY, waar dochter Lauren Lesica werd geboren in 1991. Susan en Lauren verhuisden naar Lake Ronkonkoma op Long Island in 1999, waar Susan leefde tot ze stierf aan kanker op 22 augustus 2016.

    Susan werkte vijf jaar in diverse marketingfuncties in Manhattan, gevolgd door een adviesfunctie voor het Department of Transportation van de New York State Transportation voor 12 jaar en werkte later in Marketing en Sales vanuit haar thuiskantoor op Long Island.

    Susan werd in maart 2016 gediagnosticeerd met longkanker. Aanvankelijk toegelaten tot het Stony Brook University Hospital op Long Island, verhuisde Susan later terug naar haar huis in Lake Ronkonkoma en woonde later in het huis van haar dochter in Smithtown, New York. Begin augustus werd Susan vijftien dagen opgenomen in het Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, voordat ze werd overgebracht naar de Hospice Inn in Melville, New York, waar ze op maandag 22 augustus 2016 met haar familie aan haar zijde stierf.

    Susan werd voorafgegaan in de dood door haar moeder Edwarda (Eddie) Dunkin en wordt overleefd door haar dochter Lauren Lesica en haar financiën Dan Weil uit Smithtown, NY; haar vader Orville Dunkin van Pella; haar broer Dr. Scott Dunkin, neef Brandon Dunkin en nicht Natalie Sagarbarria uit South Miami, FL en door vele neven en nichten en familie. Een visitatie werd gehouden op Branch Funeral Home in Smithtown, NY op 25 augustus, gevolgd door een begrafenis op 26 augustus. -
