Het sterfhuis Elisabeth Suy met als voogden Frans Suije en Adriaen Burssens vermeldt in 1734 een behuijsde hofstede, gekocht in 1728 van Catharine de Wael en haar dochter Catharina de Clerck, geleghen in de varentwijck (onder nr. 24) … tusschen 30 a 40 Roeden o. jan van mieghem fs. jaecques s. sheeren straete en w. de cooren wint meulen van de heere graeve van Rupelmonde en n. dhoors van de weduwe phe. vermeulen… Jan en Elisabeth pachtten toen twee stukken land van J.B. Jaspaert en een akker van Jan Weyns. Twee koeien zorgden voor melk en de hinnen voor eieren. Onder de andere meubilaire baten: 2 spinnewielen, 31 ellen lijnwaet, hemden, de capot met den rooden rock, rocklijven met de borst, 2 robben met de borst, schoenen ende muylen, het meel met het koeffer met de mastellen … (1).
Jan verongelukte op 31.08.1764 onder sijnen hoeijwaeghen in den dyck Sloodt van Craeghe in den polder van Rupelmonde. Aldaar begraven in de kerk. Uit sterfhuis jan burssens fs frans daer moeder af is geweest Josijne Wittock met als voogden Jan de Waen en Heijnderickx Burssens, blijkt dat hij in 1744 samen met Catharina de Waen nog 7 ½ roeden grond had gekocht gelegen aan zijn hofstede waarop zij een waegen huijs ende voordere stallagie hebben gebouwd. Openbare verkoop van Peird en koeijen runders waeghen kerren sledde ploeghe ende eeghde bracht ruim 979 gulden op. De vrouw van Frans Nijs - zilversmid te Temse - raamde het ongemunt goud, bestaande uit een Gauwen trouw ende cnoprrinck en een senteurgepse, op 17 gulden 16 stuiver. Jan Baptiste bebouwde toen zeker tarwe, koren, klaver, gerst. Deels op volgende gepachte gronden: 100 roeden in den Eijerputwijck, 350 r. in de meire, 4 stukken land in den blauwhofwijck samen 2 bunder 1 gemet 200 r., 3 stukken land in den Robberecht samen 1 b. 1 g. 150 r., 4 stukken land in de vaerentwijck samen 1 b. 2 g. 135 r.
Onder de begrafeniskosten: 3 gulden voor het luijden van de groote clock te Rupelmonde, 1 fl. 4 st. voor het baercleedt, 4 fl. 5 st. aan Phelipus van Steenacker die na het ongeluk het doodt lichaem tsijnen huijse heeft opgebaard, aan Jacobus Buytaert 8 fl. voor leveren en tappen van een ton bruin bier en 8 fl. 16 st. voor een zak koren aan de armen van Bazel uitgedeeld … (2).
