Hij is begraven in Wanswerd, bij de kerk.

Theunis is in Oldeboorn als predikant begonnen. Op het hoogtepunt van problemen (meisje bezwangerd, grove zonde dus), vertrekt hij naar Minnerstga, waar men niets af weet van zijn aanstaande vaderschap. Gehuwd op 7 november, intrede in Minnertsga op 10 november! Daar loopt het uit de hand. Wegens openbare dronkenschap (en niet zo’n klein beetje) wordt hij voor zes weken geschorst als predikant. Juist in die tijd valt het op dat Sytske haar buik minder plat is dan toen ze kwam. Nu wordt hij uit zijn ambt ontzet door de classis (regionale kerkvergadering) van Franeker. Na een tijdje schrijft hij eerst een nederige brief met de vraag of hij alsjeblieft weer in zijn predikantschap hersteld mag worden, maar een tijdje later een furieuze brief, waarin hij alles en iedereen voor leugenaar en onrechtpleger uitmaakt. Hij treedt uit de Christelijke Gereformeerde Kerk. Hij is later hervormd geworden, maar of hij ook predikant was weet ik niet. (gegevens gekregen van Cor Waringa, predikant)

Theunis trouwde, 25 jaar oud, op donderdag 07-11-1878 in Utingeradeel (Fr.) [bron: www.genlias.nl] met Sytske Aarts, 16 jaar oud. Sytske is geboren op zaterdag 09-08-1862 in Oldeboorn (Utingeradeel)(Fr.), dochter van Hendrik Aarts en Aaltje Velding. Sytske is overleden op donderdag 23-05-1912 in Leeuwarden (Fr.), 49 jaar oud [bron: privé en Leeuwardercourant]. Zij is begraven in Wanswerd, bij de kerk.
