[-]Lucien ontmoette onverwachts zoon Ronny op zondag 26 juli 1998 in huis van zoon Luc van Poucke, Willem Tellstraat 14 IJzendijke. Ronny is (na voorgaande tegenslagen als zelfstandige) sinds twee weken als taxiechauffeur begonnen en het gaat hem goed af. Hij had net een ritje Brussel-Sint Laureins gehad en dacht even naar IJzendijke door te rijden. Lucien vond dit mooi en was opgelucht, dat Ronny nu eindelijk een baan en meer zekerheid heeft, en dat hij nu eindelijk plezier in zijn werk heeft. Ronny had net Dr. van Wijnsberghe en diens vriend Alex Verstraete uit Oostburg (fundex) vervoerd. Deze Alex kende Lucien erg goed. Alex vertelde aan Ronny onderweg ook, dat Lucien vroeger zo goed kon voetballen en dat hij samen met Lucien het juniorenvoetbal in West Zeeuwsch Vlaanderen toendertijd leven had ingeroepen.
[-]op 31 december 2000 komen Lucien en Godelieve oudjaar vieren bij zoon Luc en diens echtgenote Regina. Ook zal Frank van Poucke en gezin aanwezig zijn. Luc heeft voor Oliver al vuurwerk gekocht en Evelyn zal het culinaire gedeelte op zich nemen.
[-]Bezocht hem zelf (ik, Luc van Poucke) 's avonds Lucien op zijn 75e verjaardag thuis in de Boulevard 24. Lucien vond het wel leuk dat er zoveel bezoek was geweest van 's morgens vroeg tot 's avonds laat, familieleden, bekenden, kennissen en buren. Wil echter, omdat het zo vemoeiend is, een volgende verjaardag het liefst alleen samen met echtgenote en eventueel kinderen vierend, want zoals het in Nederland gewoonweg gaat, komt het er op neer, dat de jarige zelf alle inspanningen moet verrichten om het de gasten zo aangenaam mogelijk te maken en dit is toch niet de zin van verjaardag vieren. Ook echtgenote Godelieve was om 11 uur 's avonds zo moe, dat ze naar bed ging en eerlijk gezegd was ze liever nog wat opgebleven om met zoon Luc nog wat na te praten, maar de drukke dag van het bedienen van de gasten had haar tol geeist. Lucien en Godelieve menen, dat zij nog wel aan verjaardagen willen doen, maar dan alleen zo, dat zij zelf ook het gevoel hebben een verjaardag te vieren en niet aleen te hoeven te zorgen voor de gasten. Misschien voor ons (kinderen van Lucien & Godelieve) een hint om de volgende verjaardag zodanig te vieren, dat Lucien en Godelieve er van kunnen genieten i.p.v. te moeten werken.
