Uit: Mededelingenblad CBG 1989-02 W. Lobbezoo-de Vos, De familie Kloosterziel. Woerden, 1988. GKIoos, Adres van de samenstelster: Havenstraat 29, 3441 BH Woerden. Tussen Hasselt en Zwartsluis bevindt zich de buurtschap Zwartewater-klooster, bestaande uit een aantal boerderijen waarvan er een nog de naam "Kloosterhoeve" draagt. Ook bevinden zich daar de resten van wat eens het Zwartewaterklooster was en de sluis Kloosterzijl, waaraan de familie in kwestie haar naam ontleent. De genealogie vangt aan met de militair Gerrit Janssen en Hermpjen Gerritsen, die 19 januari 1681 te Hasselt in het huwelijk traden. Eerst in de 18e eeuw komt binnen deze familie de naam Kloosterziel in zwang. Vast staat dat Albert Jans in de Velde, een kleinzoon van bovengenoemd echtpaar, bij de Kloosterzijl woonachtig was en ook bij het onderhoud ervan betrokken was. Een tak van de familie vestigde zich in de 19e eeuw in Zuid-Holland. Overigens zijn allen, zowel in oost- als west-Nederland, die de naam Kloosterziel dragen familie van elkaar.
