    Was destijds op de fiets van het ouderlijk huis in Blesdijke, Friesland weggegaan om voedsel te brengen naar familie in de buurt van Utrecht. Hij had toegezegd er voor te zorgen dat hij zondag weer thuis zou zijn. Hij heeft waarschijnlijk de zaterdagnacht ergens in Putten geslapen, of kwam toevallig op zondag door het dorp gefietst. Hij is een voorbeeld van "op het verkeerde moment op de verkeerde plaats". Zijn vrouw heeft nooit bericht gekregen dat hij tijdens de razzia was opgepakt, in het kamp Amersfoort was geweest en naar Duitsland is gedeporteerd. Zij kreeg pas eind 1945, maanden na het einde van oorlog, via het rode kruis bericht dat haar man in het KZ Neungamme was overleden.
