Voorafgaand zat zij opgesloten in de gevangenis van Belfort (noordoost Frankrijk) hetgeen zou kunnen betekenen dat zij met haar echtgenoot Herman de Raay en zoon Leon de Raay vergeefs heeft getracht naar Zwitserland te vluchten.
