In "De Zierikzeesche Nieuwsbode" van 17-11-1969 komt een bericht voor waaruit blijkt, dat ca 250 jaar geleden een voorvader van de van Oeveren's zich in Ouwerkerk vestigde en dat de oudst bekende voorvader van deze familie Jan Huijbregtse van Oeveren, in 1596 te Den Bommel is geboren.
