Notes about Matthijs Hendrikszn van Dijk

Matthijs van Dijk, ook wel Thijs genoemd, was in de Patriottentijd fel prinsgezind, maar daardoor kwam hij vaak in moeilijkheden. Latere familieleden waren Patriotten (scheldnaam 'Kezen') Daar zijn verschillende verwikkelingen uit voortgekomen oa een proces met de familie Oudshoorn. Matthijs was scheepbouwer en had een scheepmakerij aan het Zweiland (waar nu de Kaagsociëteit is). De scheepmakerij verkocht hij in 1813 aan zijn zoons Hendrik en Ruwaard. In 1816 is Mathijs aangesteld als 'ambachtsbewaarder'/ dorpsbestuurder.
