Eppo is getrouwd geweest, doch de naam van zijn vrouw is onbekend. Uit hun huwelijk werd voor zover bekend één kind geboren.

De naam Equart komt van Abel Eppens tho Equart die in 1450 de boerderij genaamd 'Bolhuis' stichtte. De familie is zich later (van) Bolhuis gaan noemen. In één van de gebrandschilderde ramen van de Martini kerk in Groningen is het familie wapen te vinden.
