Uit een advertentie welke werd overgenomen uit een oud kerkelijk weekblad van de Confessionele Vereniging in Friesland, van vrijdag 18 juli 1873, het volgende:

"Hedenavond omstreeks half acht heeft het de Almachtige behaagd, na een langdurige tijd met een zwak lichaam te hebben moeten worstelen, van mijne zijde weg te nemen, mijn teedere Echtgenoot en der kinderen zorgdragende Vader Jelle Klazes Dam, in de ouderdom van 55 jaren, na een genoegelijke echtvereniging van 19 jaren.
In leven Afgevaardigde van de Provinciale Friesche Vereniging van Vrienden van de Waarheid in Friesland te Kootstertille.
Daar zijn leven en wandel in vele opzichten was als een echt Christen betaamde, kunnen wij volgens Gods Woord met recht verwachten dat zijn heengaan in vrede zijn mag.
Hij laat een diepbedroefde en hulpbehoevende weduwe met zes onverzorgde kinderen na."
