De Groningse staartklok of Burgemeestersklok die nu in bezit is van Hendrik Anne Trox [geb. 11 jan 1950] is gebouwd in 1796 en gekocht door Jacob Hendrik van der Leest en Lucia Arjens van der Werf. De klok is tijdens het huwelijk van Hendrik van der Leest en Anna Heinstra op 7 mei 1881cadeau gedaan door de ouders van Hendrik. Na hun overlijden is de klok bij hun dochter Lucia [geb. 24 jul 1887] terechtgekomen en vervolgens bij Albertus Henderikus [geb. 30 jan 1915]. Lucia had echter bepaald dat de klok alrijd in bezit zou moeten blijven van een naamgenoot van van der Leest. Aangezien Hendrik Anne is genoemd naar Hendrik van der Leest en Anna Heinstra is de klok nu in zijn bezit.

nb. Groninger Burgemeestersklok. In deze uitvoering bestemt voor de werkkamer van de burgemeester, voorzien van gemeentewapen dag,- en maanaanduiding. Deze klok met verhoogde kap werd ook in iets andere uitgevoerde versieringen en voorstellingen op bestelling gemaakt voor rijke boeren op het Groninger Hoge Land met kast-, en kapversieringen geheel naar wens van de klant. Deze Groninger boeren wilden zich daarmee onderscheiden van de andere boeren in de noordelijke provincies. Wanneer de dubbele kap is voorzien van ajourwerk (uitgezaagd houtwerk) noemt men dat een Amsterdamse kap.
