Het huwelijk tussen mijn ouders stond “gepland” op 15 oktober 1942.
Vanwege het gevaar van beschietingen van treinen werd door de familie in Lisse besloten om niet met de trein maar met de boot van Amsterdam naar Lemmer te reizen en hiervandaan met een trammetje naar Akkrum.
Een dag voor het huwelijk ging men scheeps in Amsterdam.
De boot werd beschoten en Kemp en zijn verloofde werden dodelijk getroffen. De artikelen over het beschieten van de tramboot “Holland”spreken voorzich.

Het huwelijk werd uitgesteld en zonder festiviteiten op 28 oktober 1942 voltrokken.
De kerkelijke bevestiging werd geleid door Ds. R. Kok uit Veenendaal.
