    Zaterdag 6 augustus vond de begrafenis plaats van Job Keizer. Op veel te jonge leeftijd van 62 jaar is de bekendste parkeerwachter van Nederland van ons heengegaan. Het vertrek van de begrafenisstoet was om 10.40 uur vanaf Job’s eigen parkeerterrein aan het Zuideinde, waar hij ruim 40 jaar de toeristen een gastvrij welkom heette. Het was een indrukwekkend gezicht en aan Job Keizer werd zo een waardig afscheid gegeven.

    ’t Job Keizerplein. Je moet er even naar zoeken. Want het bordje hangt er nog niet zo lang.

     

    Toch is de plek heel logisch gekozen; de parkeerplaats onder aan d’ouwe Helling te Volendam. Daar waar hij vele tientallen jaren toeristen te woord stond, automobilisten een parkeerplekje aanwees en uiteraard een gerookte paling of makreel verkocht in zijn befaamde winkeltje waar ’een koppie bij Joppie’ gebruikelijk was.

    Joppie Keizer overleed afgelopen jaar op 63-jarige leeftijd en gold als een lokale en zelfs internationale bekendheid. Want toeristen van heinde en verre herkenden hem meteen van voorgaande vakanties. Sterker nog; eenmaal in Volendam gingen veel dagjesmensen speciaal langs Keizer voor een pondje paling en een praatje. Ondernemers

     

    Zijn broer Wim vindt het fantastisch dat Job Keizer op deze manier de eer krijgt die hem toekomt. Hij complimenteert alle ondernemers die hiertoe mede de aanzet hebben gegeven. ,,Dit komt recht uit het hart’’, weet Wim Keizer. ,,Veertig jaar lang heeft Job hand en spandiensten verricht voor al deze bedrijven. Als er een pakketje werd afgeleverd of er een bestelling binnen kwam, dan regelde Job dat allemaal. Hij was een manusje van alles. Wat veel mensen niet weten, is dat Job maar liefst achttien kinderen van de verdrinkingsdood heeft gered. We missen Job nog elke dag en nog steeds vragen heel veel mensen die hier op de Haven wandelen naar hem. Het is hartverwarmend te merken dat hij zo geliefd was.’’
