Met Pieter Steur, komen we terecht in ' familie van d.e Spaanders. In de eerste helft van juli 1988 werd/deze geschiedenis nog weer eens uitvoerig in de pers beschreven, bij de rigoreuze verbouwing van hotel Spaander. Pieter Steur, van beroep "tapper" Zoals dat vak in zijn tijd werd genoemd had een café aan de Dijk, het huidige Spaanderconcern, toen de historische naam café "Het Zwarte Paard", welke naam aan het moderne hotelgedeelte van hotel Spaander nog altijd gehandhaafd bleef.
