    Toen Willem en Gesie trouwden in 1942 huurden ze een oud huisje aan het Noordeinde tussen de Blark en de Keffer. De ouwe Jenno had er gewoond. Ze moesten het daar van de liefde hebben, want de toen toch al normale voorzienigen van een binnentoilet, een keuken, een aanrecht ontbraken. Toch werden daar de eerste vier kinderen geboren. Daarna kregen zij een huis in het eerste nieuwbouwproject van na de oorlog in de Boegstraat.
