Notes about Margareth Long

Margareth is een dochter van Catharina Long-Lonergan, geb. 29-08-1865 te Engeland. Margareth ontmoette Bernardus tijdens een koorontmoetingin Engeland. Hij was daar om alles over de Engelse mode te leren. I.v.m.de 1e wereldoorlog is hij teruggeroepen naar Nederland om in de zaakvan zijn vader te gaan werken. Margareth is in 1917 met speciale toestemming naar Nederland gekomen en het stel besloot in 1918 te trouwen. Het huwelijk werd in 1919 gesloten in een kerk St. Safious te Putney tijdens een bisschoppelijke mis. Margareth was van hoge komaf. De moeder van haar had een titel en tevens had zij bezittingen in Ierland. Zij studeerde in Engeland. De vader van Margareth werkte ophet department Kolonial Affairs en was dr. in de economie. Hij overleed aan een longaandoening toen Margareth 3 maanden oud was. Na hun huwelijk is het jonge stel naar Nederland gekomen met in hun gevolg Margareth's moeder. De zwangerschappen van Margereth waren niet erg gelukkig, het eerste kind werd te vroeg geboren en is na de geboorte overleden. Met het tweede en het derde kind was het precies hetzelfde. Margareth dreigde dood te gaan als zij nogmaals zwanger zou worden. Ze was heel ongelukkig onder haar kinderloosheid. Margareth heeft in Engeland een kunst opleiding gevolgd. Zij speelde viool, piano en zij schilderde. Margareth heeft ook nog enige tijd als verpleegster gewerkt. In 1963 kreeg zij de ziekte van Alzheimer en werd opgenomen in een Neurologische kliniek. Zij overleed in februari 1966 aan een hersenbloeding.
