Deze zonnemonstrans is uitgevoerd in een uitzonderlijk rijke en technisch zeer verfijnde Lodewijk XIV-stijl. Als volledig in goud uitgevoerd is het een van de meest indrukwekkende voorbeelden van vroeg 18de-eeuwse edelsmeedkunst in Vlaanderen.
De weduwe van Franciscus van Beversluys liet haar kostbare juwelen en acht geëmailleerde beeldjes verwerken in een monstrans die zij bestelde bij zilversmid Beaucourt. Dit kunstwerk werd in 1726 geschonken aan de Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk van Brugge. De schenking door deze belangrijke mecenassen uit Brugge verleent dit artistiek hoogstaande edelsmeedwerk de historische context waardoor het onmisbaar is voor het collectieve geheugen.
De monstrans is trouwens zeer goed gedocumenteerd.
