    Gisteren is het lijk opgehaald van P.van Nes uit Baambrugge. Het lijk werd gevonden in de Binnen Amstel te Amsterdam. Hij werd al vermist na veelvuldig Drankgebruik te Amsterdam in o.a. Schuurmans op den hoek van de Vijzelstraat en den Herengracht.
    Op het bidprentje staat: "In den avond van 24 november 1879 uit Amsterdam naar Abcoude zullende terugkeren, misleid door de duisternis van den avond en een sterke mist, ongelukkig te water geraakt in de stadsgracht, de Binnen-Amstel, en jammerlijk verdronken, in den ouderdom van ruim 60 jaren. Zijn lijk, door den vroeg ingevallen winter verborgen onder het ijs, werd eerst bij den laat ingekomen dooi, den 10 februari 1880, teruggevonden, volkomen kenbaar en zonder 't minste teken van ontbinding en is den 16 van denzelfde maand op het Parochiale kerkhof te Abcoude begraven".
