      Dit beroep hield het volgende in: Het kettinggaren moest van de klossen worden overgezet op de boom, het zogenaamde scheren. Dit was het werk van jonge vrouwen. Een meisje stak de klossen met de verschillende kleuren garen op basis van een scheerbriefje ("zettel") in het scheerraam. Het briefje schreef de plaats van de verschillende kleuren in het scheerraam voor. De draden van de klossen werden door het meisje via een ijzeren kam naar de kettingboom geleid. Op elke draad hing een "dragonder", een soort haarspeld, die viel als de draad brak, waardoor de machine automatisch stopte. Dan draaide het meisje de twee draadeinden aan elkaar en zette de machine weer in beweging. Bron: Textielmuseum Tilburg.
