De kolonel van het regiment moest toestemming geven voor het huwelijk, en doet dit in een verklaring waarbij hij schrijft dat het de echtgenote niet is toegestaan naar het regiment te komen, of het te volgen.
Saakje overlijdt in 1876 in hun woning nummer 131 te Marrum.
Op 6-05-1876 zijn Eeltje en zijn zoon Einte gedaagden voor de arrondisements rechtbank van Leeuwarden wegens mishandeling. Ze worden veroordeeld tot gevangenisstraf en een geldboete.
