Gerard I van Vaudémont (1057 - 1118) was een jongere zoon van Gerard van Lotharingen en Hedwig van Namen. Bij de dood van zijn vader in 1070 eiste hij een deel van diens bezittingen op, waarop zijn broer Diederik II hem het gebied rond Vaudémont afstond en Hendrik IV hem de grafelijke waardigheid toestond. Gerard steunde van dan af zijn broer. Vermoedelijk naam hij deel aan de eerste kruistocht.
Gerard was in 1097 gehuwd met Hedwige van Egisheim, dochter van Gerard van Dagsbourg, zelf een broer van paus Leo IX, en werd de vader van:
* Hugo I (-1165)
* Gizela (1090-1141), gehuwd met graaf Renard III van Toul, en met graaf Reinout I van Bar (-1149),
* Stephania, gehuwd met graaf Frederik I van Ferette
* Judith (-1163), abdis van Remiremont en van Saint-Pierre in Metz.
