In 1749 een 'gemeen veenbaas' te Noorderdrachten. Gerke was voorganger van de afgescheiden groep Groninger Oude Vlamingen, die tussen 1707 en1787 diensten hield in een schuur in de Folgeren bij Drachten. Hij was in 1754 leraar, 42 jaar oud, verkozen in 1745.
