 Johannes Claasen huwt te Blokzijl op 8-6-1764 met Grietje Roelofs Pander geboren op 5-2-1747 te Blokzijl. Zij is een dochter van Peter Pander en Jantje Everts (Wichertsz). Het huwelijk vindt plaats te Blokzijl maar beiden wonen te Amsterdam. De huwelijksintekening wordt door predikant Schagen van Blokzijl doorgezonden naar Amsterdam op 19-6-1764. Johannes Claasen oefent het beroep van Mattenkoopman en Schipper uit.


Johannes Claasen Bul/Bijl overlijdt, 10 jaar later dan zijn echtgenote, Grietje Roelof Pander, op 24-6-1819 des s'avonds om negen uur als mattenkoper op de leeftijd van 74 jaar in de Cathuijserstraat 62 (Karthuizersstraat) te Amsterdam. Zijn overlijden wordt aangegeven door zijn 48 jarige zoon Hendrik Bijl eveneens wonend in de Cathuijserstraat 62 (Karthuizersstraat) te Amsterdam van beroep sjouwer en door zijn 43 jarige (dit is fout vermeld in de acte, dit moet zijn: zijn 55 jarige en oudste...) zoon Claas Bijl wonend hoek Prinsengracht 872 (nu 806) bij de Utrechtsestraat te Amsterdam van beroep mattenkoper
