Maria, gedoopt op 21 april 1738, is vermoedelijk als jonge dochter in de stad Antwerpen komen wonen. Ze huwde er immers in de O.L.-Vrouwekerk op 26 juli 1767 met Jan Staepels, ook afkomstig uit Wuustwezel. Zij kregen samen acht kinderen. JanStaepels overleed daarop in 1782, waarna Maria hertrouwde met Jan vander Jonckheid, op 7 november 1784. Dit huwelijk vond plaats in Wuustwezel. Mogelijk is Maria na haar eerste huwelijk naar haar geboortedorp teruggekeerd.
