Notes about Leneart Foppen van Driel

XII Lenaert Foppen van Driel, geboren rond 1565 te Ridderkerk, overleden op 01-02-1635 te Rijsoord. Hij was schout van Rijsoord (1617-1629) en Strevelshoek (1617). Als schout had hij een geschil met de schouten en gerechten van de andere ambachten in de Zwijndrechtse Waard aangaande onderhoud en bruggeld van de houten brug over de Waal naast de kerk van Rijsoord. Die brug was de belangrijkste verbinding van de Zwijndrechtse Waard met de rest van het eiland IJsselmonde, zodat de hoogte van het bruggeld van groot belang was. Hoewel Lenaert gevestigd was in Rijsoord bleef hij eigenaar van grond in de Oud-Reijerwaard, geërfd van zijn vader. Dit bezit te Ridderkerk breidde hij in 1619 en 1626 nog uit. Verder gebruikte hij land in Oud-Barendrecht dat hij in leen had van de heren van Wassenaar. Hij huwde op 31-10-1593 te Rijsoord met Marijcken Cornelisdr., geboren rond 1570 te Rijsoord, overleden in 02-1651 aldaar. Zij was een dochter van Cornelis Thonisz., schout van Rijsoord. Marijcken huwde later met Pleun Adriaensz.
