Gearresteerd in de nacht van 14 op 15 juni 1942 en afgevoerd naar het Huis van Bewaring te Amsterdam, Duitse Afdeling. Hij zou, tijdens zijn verblijf aldaar veroordeeld zijn door een Duitse rechtbank in Utrecht. Waarvoor is nooit duidelijk geworden. Hij hielp onderduikers, ook Joodse, aan distributie-stamkaarten maar had ook een rol bij de Februaristaking in 1941.Begin Augustus als Schutzhäftling overgebracht naar Kamp Amersfoort. Hoogstwaarschijnlijk met transport van 25 September 1942 overgebracht naar het Vernietgingskamp Neuengamme bij Hamburg, waar het devies was: "Vernichtung durch Arbeit" en de maximale levensduur van een gevangene drie maanden mocht zijn. Hij heeft het slechts 1½ maand volgehouden, maar in Amersfoort was hij waarschijnlijk al ziek, hij vertrok uit de ziekenbarak.. Verzetsherdenkingskruis posthuum toegekend.
