Notes about Paulus Freeksz Semeijn

Gerbrandt en Meinu hadden slechts een dochter, Lysabeth (te Enkhuizen begraven 2-9-1652). Deze trouwde met de zoutzieder Freek Freeksz Keetman (óf "Krimpen") in september 1601 te Enkhuizen. Hun kinderen kregen alle de naam Semeijn en het is hun jongste zoon Paulus Frederiksz Semeijn, wijnkoper te Enkhuizen, getrouwd met.Hendrikje Hendriks Wegewaert (uit het beroemde klokkengietersgeslacht!), die, te samen met Jan Hendriksz van Loosen op een stuk land de "Smeerweid" te Zwaagdijk (tussen de Zwaagdijk en de Leek) in 1658 de eendenkooi stichtte. Vanaf die tijd tot 1830 is deze "Vogelcoye" in handen van de Semeinsen geweest en daarna nog een eeuw van de fam. Groot. Een en ander is door de heer Brouwer beschreven in dl. IX van de bundel Hist. Gen. Oud Westfriesland (1935, blz. 116-120). Paulus Semeijn en Jan van Loosen behoorden tot de Enkhuizer regenten en zonder veel moeite verkregen zij de voor de kooi benodigde rechten die nog geëerbiedigd worden.
