    Bij de volkstelling in 1829 woonden Roelof en Hilligje op Schut 471 bij Hoogeveen.
    Engeltje Spijkerman woonde toen bij hun in. Dit kan voorlopig alleen nr 7111 zijn -1798/1860. Zij is de zuster van Roelof die toen nog niet gehuwd was. Hun moeder was op dat moment al overleden.
    Bij de volkstelling geeft hij als beroep landbouwer op. Hij komt voor op de lijst van weerbare mannen (1811) met de geboortedatum 23-02-1790 en inscgr.nr. 525.

Bij zijn huwelijk met Zwane wordt bij de huwelijkse bescheiden de tekst van de werkelijke doopakte vermeld als "In den Jare 1790 gedoopt Roelof Gooszen zoon van Gooszen Roelofs en Janna Alberts.), overleden op 31-01-1869 te Nieuweroord C192 Hoogeveen op 78-jarige leeftijd.

In tegenstelling tot zijn eerdere huwelijk wordt zijn naam nu aangegeven als Roelof Gooszen Spijkerman. Intussen is er wetgeving gekomen waar aangegeven wordt dat ieder een eigen naam moet aannemen. Verder wordt vermeld dat hij de weduwe is van Hilligje Hendriks Lubbers. De toevoeging Lubbers is nog niet verklaard. In haar overlijdens akte wordt ook dezelfde naam gebruikt terwijl haar vader hier Hendrik Frans Lubbers wordt genoemd deze is dan getrouwd geweest met Lubbigje Hendriks. Het geheel deed eerst vermoeden dat Hilligje dezelfde vrouw is die met Albert Schonewille is gtrouwd en geboren is op 01-03-1788 in Pesse.
Roelof tekent nu met R.G. Spijkerman en de handtekening van Zwane ontbreekt omdat ze niet kon schrijven.
