    De zeer zware strijd om de bevrijding van Loon op Zand kostte weer vier gewone mensen het leven. Een van hen was de 83-jarige Janske Kokx uit de Klokkenlaan.
    Ze was tijdens die dagen bij familie in de Kloosterstraat en zat in de schuilkelder. Toen de gevechten ophielden en de familie de schuilkelder uitging, bleef tante Janske zitten achter in de kelder. De anderen dachten dat ze sliep. Toen ze gingen kijken zagen ze tot hun ontsteltenis dat ze was overleden. Ze had haar hondje nog op schoot. Later bleek dat ze een scherfje in haar rug had. Zonder dat er iemand iets van gemerkt had was ze stilletjes gestorven.
