    Johannes Boddens was zeker zeer welgesteld. Op 17 juni 1625 was hij eigenaar van ‘t Huys Doornick, in de Warmoesstraat (een gedeelte van het tegenwoordige no. 139) geworden, waarvoor hij f 22550.- had betaald. Daar woonde hij nog in 1631, maar niet zo heel lang daarna moet hij verhuisd zijn naar de Fluwele Burgwal of Oudezijds Voorburgwal, waarheen hij zijn uithangteken meenam. Het was een huurhuis, dat hij toen betrok, no. 163. Op 15 februari 1634, kort na de geboorte van zijn vijfdekind, lag hij daar ziek te bed en liet notaris Laurens Lamberti komen om samen met zijn vrouw een testament te maken. De kinderen kregen f35000.-, de langstlevende zou in de rest blijven zitten. Een week later stierf hij.
