    Piet Huis was ook een van de stakers van de februaristaking op 25/26 februari 1941 zijn naam staat op de Lijst van ambtelijke stakers die zijn bestraft met salariskorting

    Begin 1941 nam de Jodenvervolging in Amsterdam steeds grotere proporties aan. Onder de Amsterdammers groeide de verontwaardiging over het optreden van de Duitse bezetter. De eerste razzia’s waarbij 427 joodse mannen werden opgepakt waren voor Amsterdam de druppel die de emmer deed overlopen. Op 25 en 26 februari 1941 werd gestaakt. De Februaristaking was het enige massale, openlijke protest tegen de Jodenvervolging in Europa.
    Het waren stratenmakers, vuilnismannen en trambestuurders die het voortouw namen bij de staking.
