Hoamer (485-53), known as the Achilles of the Vandals, was a vandal prince who commanded the army under his uncle, Hildéric, king of the Vandals and North Alans from 523 to 530.

This vandal general is one of the last charismatic figures of the period of decline of the Vandal Kingdom of North Africa. A very skilful general, who for a moment stopped the ravages of the nomadic Berber tribes from Tripolitania.

However, Hoamer faced a rather serious failure by confronting a coalition of Moorish tribes commanded by Antalas in Byzacene, southern Tunisia today. Gelimer, the King's cousin, profited by this disaster to mount a conspiracy against Hilderic. He led the Vandals to overthrow in 530 the old and weak King Hildéric, who sought a rapprochement with the Catholic Church and especially Byzantium, where he had spent nearly 40 years, the new King Vandal Gelimer imprisoned the fallen king and his followers Evagès and especially General Hoamer. Gelimer broke with Byzantium (531) and resumed religious persecution of the Catholics.

Following the disembarkation of the Byzantines in 533, Gelimer ordered his brother Ammatas, who had remained in Carthage, to put to death Hildéric, Evagès and Hoamer.
