Boer met een eigen boerderij aan Smarighorn.
Hij had een boerenbedrijf in de Weverstraat in Den Burg en bezat verschillende stukken grond. Aarjen was in Den Burg armenvoogd en impostmeester (impost is een soort verbruiksbelasting).

Aarjen komt verschillende keren voor in diverse notariële akten. Hij leende dan geld en moest hiervoor stukken land als onderpand geven. Na de dood van Aarjen werd er op 6 januari 1736 bij notaris M. Brouwer een lang contract opgesteld over de verdeling van zijn eigendommen. Zijn vrouw Hendrikje en haar stiefdochter Trijntje waren het niet eens met zoon Jan over twee stukken land die uit de erfenis van Aarjen kwamen.
