Omgekomen als stuurman van de KNZHRM met de reddingvlet Christiaan Huygens tijdens de redding van een zeiljacht op de Razende Bol bij Den Helder . Door een fratsgolf sloeg de reddingvlet om en verdronken twee van de drie opvarenden. (Begraafregister Den Helder W - 731)
