Elijas was lid van de vroedschap en diaken in 1753, 1759, 1764, ouderling in 1773 en 1786. 3 weken
na zijn huwelijk krijgt hij toestemming om 'coffij en thee' aan huis te verkopen. Op 26 september
1752 krijgt hij een uitgebreider "Consent om ten zijnen huijse Brandewijnen, Genever, Anijs,
Azijn en verdere gedisteleerde wateren als tapper te mogen verkopen dog egter onder deze
bepalinge van geen gelagen te mogen zetten". Op 19 november 1776 komt daar nog eens bij het
"consent omme als vettewarier hammen, spek en gerookt vlees te verkoopen".
