In 1805 breidde de textielhandelaar Arjen Buwalda van Haga zijn huis uit met een onderkelderde aanbouw, die in neoclassicistische stijl werd ontworpen door de Sneeker stadsarchitect Auke Bruinsma. In de kelder kon textiel gestijfd(gestreken) of gekalanderd worden.

De met beschilderde behangsels ingerichte opkamer bood een fraai uitzicht op het Hoogend en de waterpoort. De hoge kap bood bergruimte voor matrassen en ander textiel dat met behulp van een hijsbalk in de grote dakkapel daar gebracht enafgevoerd kon worden. zie afbeelding

Heeft 7 kinderen. Woonde te Sneek.
