Information obtained from Edith DeClark Judd by Oda Petersen Martin
Jessie Judd was the same age as my father, James k. Martin, and I
remeber when my father went into the sawmill business with him at or
near Vernonia, Oregon in about 1946-1947. Dad had plans of going to
Alaska to homestead and had even purchased a war surplus 6x6 Dodge
Army truck to move our family in. He planned to earn a little more
money when Uncle Jessie talked him into going in with him in the
sawmill until he was ready to go. Dad ended up losing all that he had
saved and got far into debt with the venture.
