Notes about Jan Simonsz Goede


Jan Simonsz Goede werd in Landsmeer geboren op 2 juni 1876. Hij overleed op 7 mei 1945 op 68 jarige leeftijd tengevolge van een beschieting door leden van de Duitse Kriegsmarine vanuit de Groote Club. Zijn bijnaam was Jan van Padje. Hij was koopman in eieren. Hij had zijn woonhuis en eierpakhuis aan het zgn Tuinpad, de huidige van Beekstraat nr 8. Het huis werd na de watersnoodramp in 1916 gebouwd. Hij was de eerste Landsmeerder die een telefoonaansluiting kreeg onder nummer 1.

Els Verweij Goede die 8 jaar oud was toen haar grootvader werd doodgeschoten op de Dam herinnert zich het verdriet van haar ouders en grootmoeder. Grootvader Jan Goede was op zijn nieuwe fiets, die hij gedurende de oorlogsjaren had weggestopt, naar Amsterdam gegaan om de intocht van de Canadezen mee te maken. Klaas Janszoon Goede, Els vader, moest zijn vader identificeren. Opa Goede werd opgebaard in de Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam. Hij liet een vrouw en 7 kinderen na.
