UNIA (Douwe Carel van), zoon van Julius Mockema van Unia en Ida van Aylva, werd den 24sten December 1669 als grietman van Tietjerksteradeel verkozen en had in 1683 zitting in het collegie van gedeputeerden. Voor zijne benoeming tot grietmanwas hij kapitein in den krijgsdienst, en toen hij in 1680 afstand van de grietenij had gedaan, werd hij tot ritmeester aangesteld. Hij huwde Luts, dochter van Tjaerd van Aylva en Hijlck van Eijsinga, weduwe van Jelte van Eijsinga, die hem 5kinderen schonk. Hij overleed in 1708, zij te Leeuwarden den 11den
